Expression wrinkles on the face are a consequence of contraction of the facial muscles. External factors, such as visiting a solarium, enhance the genetic aging process. The formation of facial wrinkles is observed not only in people of advanced age, but also in young girls, due to hereditary predisposition.
There are many treatments available to rejuvenate your skin and appearance, but none can replicate the positive effects of Botox. Botox injections are currently a time-tested, safe and most popular method of non-surgical rejuvenation.
General characteristics of the drug
For a long time, drugs for removing wrinkles have not surprised anyone. One of these fillers is Dysport. This is a toxin produced by the bacterium that causes botulism . But you should not be afraid of this drug, since it only affects wrinkles without affecting the surface layer of the epidermis.
The anti-aging effect occurs due to the fact that the components block signals entering the brain from facial muscles, which in turn relaxes them and wrinkles disappear naturally.
But it should be noted that this drug is widely used in traditional medicine to treat many diseases. In small doses, it is used for cerebral palsy, to relax tense muscles, injections help with severe sweating, and it can also be prescribed to patients after a stroke, when the face is severely distorted.
Compound
Dysport is an excellent, unparalleled remedy for wrinkles in the bridge of the nose, forehead and small wrinkles around the eyes associated with facial emotional manifestations.
The active component is botulinum toxin type A (hemagglutinin 500 units). As auxiliary components, the drug contains :
- Lactose.
- Human albumin.
Operating principle
The drug acts by limiting the electrical conductivity of the muscles responsible for facial expressions. All the muscles under the skin begin to relax, as a result not only does the process of formation of new folds on the skin slow down, but also existing wrinkles are smoothed out.
Despite the fact that butulinum toxin is a poison, it is safe for humans, since its concentration in Dysport is minimal. Over time, the toxin decomposes and is eliminated from the body without any residue, without causing harm to health. It is for this reason that this is a procedure with a temporary effect.
The frequency of repetition of injections is every six months.
Drugs whose influence on the effect of botulinum therapy has not been confirmed or is absent
Also, very often, patients ask whether they can inject botulinum toxin while taking certain medications, if these medications are not listed in the list of contraindications to botulinum therapy. Such a safety net is completely justified, but in most cases and for most medications, even a doctor cannot give an unambiguous answer.
Today, a list of approximately 370 drugs has been compiled, the simultaneous use of which with botulinum toxin is not recommended. This list is constantly supplemented and updated as new data and new precedents emerge. A cosmetologist performing Botox injections always takes this list into account and before the procedure finds out if the patient is using such drugs.
There are hundreds of drugs whose use is a contraindication to Botox injections, and this list is periodically expanded.
However, in some cases, even approved medications can interact with botulinum toxin or affect its effect in an undesirable way. This is a consequence of the individual characteristics of the body, and it is impossible to predict some of these reactions. Fortunately, most of these reactions are minor and any unwanted effects that occur will subside quickly.
Below are some of the drugs, the possibility of simultaneous use of which with botulinum therapy is of interest to patients most often:
- Antibiotics of the penicillin series - in fact, penicillin, amoxicillin (the drug Amoxiclav and others), ampicillin, bicillins. They do not affect neuromuscular transmission, and therefore their use is not a clear contraindication to botulinum therapy. But, again, it is somewhat unreasonable to “rush to Botox” while being sick and continuing to take tablets of these drugs;
- Paracetamol and Diclofenac also do not exclude the use of botulinum toxin, but, similar to antibiotics, it is not advisable to engage in cosmetic procedures when the patient has a high fever and the body is weakened;
- Afobazole - despite the fact that this drug is an anxiolytic (tranquilizer), it does not cause muscle weakness and does not enhance the effect of botulinum toxin. Therefore, taking it is not a contraindication for botulinum therapy;
- Reduxin is a weight loss product. Among its side effects, seizures are indicated, but taking it is not a definite factor that excludes Botox injections. The doctor must independently assess the condition of the patient taking Reduxin and decide whether he should inject botulinum toxin;
- Various hormonal drugs, including oral contraceptives - due to differences in their action, it is impossible to unambiguously characterize the admissibility of their use when using botulinum toxin - it all depends on the specific drug;
- Local antibiotics - as a rule, these drugs do not have a systemic effect. If they are not used to treat skin infections at the sites of intended injections, then Botox can be used when using them;
- Mexidol - can have an anticonvulsant effect, enhancing the effect of botulinum toxin;
- Antifungal drugs can sometimes cause unwanted side effects, but there are no general rules about the possibilities of their use in botulinum therapy.
In general, taking into account the safety of the botulinum toxin injection procedures themselves, in most cases Botox is successfully administered with the parallel use of drugs that are not included in the list of clearly contraindicated botulinum toxin therapy.
What are its pros and cons?
Injections have not only positive aspects, but also disadvantages. The advantages are :
- A quick rejuvenation effect, which will intensify over the first few weeks.
- Safety when following the basic rules for drug administration. Dysport is not administered deep under the skin in very small doses, so there are practically no negative effects observed.
- The procedure is quick and painless, even without local anesthesia, which a cosmetologist can offer, since the needle is very thin.
Not very high cost. It costs much less than Botox.
Disadvantages of use:
- the drug has some contraindications;
- Side effects may occur, for example, swelling of the upper eyelid after injections;
- the effect is not very long-lasting, the procedure must be repeated periodically;
- It is not possible to get a good effect in all cases, for example, injections are useless in the lower part of the face and after 50 years, since the drug is not able to completely eliminate severe age-related changes.
Complications after injections
When you decide to have Dysport injections, read reviews online, check the qualifications of the specialist, whether the cosmetologist has a work license and a diploma of higher medical education. Otherwise, side effects may appear - a feeling of muscle stiffness (mask), severe swelling, bruises after injections, curvature of the nasolabial folds, drooping eyelids, raising the eyebrow line. They are present from two to three days to several weeks.
Dysport injections: photos before and after the procedure
Unpleasant consequences are also explained by the high penetrating ability of the composition.
Indications and duration of action
There are certain indications for injections:
- Hemifacial syndrome.
- Increased sweating.
- Local muscle damage that occurs as a result of injury or disease - spasticity.
- Blepharospasm.
Facial asymmetry and other defects.- The presence of deep creases in the skin, especially in the upper part of the face.
- Small expression lines on the forehead or around the eyes.
The effect of the injections is visible in the first minutes after administration of the drug, but it gains its main strength after 3 days, and the final result, which will last on the face for more than six months, will be visible after 2-3 weeks. In general, the duration of action of Dysport depends on the characteristics of the body, for some it is 6 months, for others 4.

Reviews from patients who took a course of Dysport injections in Perovo:

Name: Elena (Kakhovskaya)
The injections are painless, and there are not so many of them (in mesotherapy there are many more). I came to the clinic for the sake of an experiment, and as a result I tried many procedures. Thank you for helping women change for the better!

Name: Julia (Noviye Cheryomushki metro station)
My friend started getting Dysport injections for the first time. I made an appointment with a cosmetologist while looking at her. I really like that the result lasts quite a long time and the look is natural. For some reason, we were given different numbers of “units” of the drug. But this is determined individually by a specialist at a preliminary consultation. This means I have fewer wrinkles. The forehead area suffered the most. The result is not visible immediately, but after 2 weeks. For me, this is an excellent means of prevention against the appearance of new wrinkles. It’s good that I started walking at this age (39 years old), although it could have been earlier.

I started giving Dysport injections last summer. Since then I have been coming to the clinic every six months. I’m very pleased with the result and don’t plan to use anything else on my face for now.

I want to tell you about my funny reaction to the first Dysport injection - I kept walking around and rubbing my forehead (I don’t know what I checked). It's like it's not mine. But in terms of the visual effect, everything is great, no complaints. The forehead, by the way, looks perfectly smooth.

I took injections with the French drug Dysport. I was especially concerned about the folds between the eyebrows. All the folds folds! But they didn’t just put it on the forehead, of course. It hit the corners of the eyes and the chin. Everything went great, I didn’t even expect such an effect. They warned about possible side reactions, but I had nothing. Well, and the main thing is to come only once every 6-8 months for beauty injections - for this amount it is not at all expensive.

When I was pregnant with my second child, I decided to give birth and completely get my face and body in order. I even consulted with experts in advance about when and what to do. Among other procedures, they decided to use Dysport injections. The action is the same as Botox, but the effect comes faster and lasts longer. It is also important to choose the right clinic and doctors. It is better that the place is verified. I came, as planned, to DasClinic 6 months after giving birth, I was no longer breastfeeding. Injections were given in the forehead, nasolabial folds, and cheekbones. There was no major swelling. I expected muscle stiffness, but no, I tolerated everything fine. For further care, you just need to use your regular creams. I continue to take care of myself. I would like to note the support of doctors and all staff, excellent attitude towards clients. Every time I leave in high spirits.

I was injected with Dysport 2 months ago, then I was given 1.5 cc of the drug. Two more women came with me for the rejuvenating procedure. One bottle was enough for the three of us. The procedure was inexpensive, although effective. The first wrinkle above the eyebrow smoothed out within a week, and the deeper one straightened out a little later. There was some redness immediately after the procedure, but it went away quickly. After another 2 months I was undergoing correction. The doctor was good and did everything perfectly.

I tried botulinum toxin injections on myself last summer. It was inexpensive, and the photos after the procedure impressed me. I was injected with Dysport into my nasolabial folds. 2 months have passed, the effect has become much better. Wrinkles are not as visible as they were before. In another six months, in the winter, I will repeat the procedure at this clinic. The equipment here is good and the cosmetologists are competent.

I didn’t think for a long time which method of rejuvenation to choose. A specialist at the clinic recommended Dysport. Like, the effect lasts longer and the result is better. I agreed, especially since the procedure was inexpensive. During the consultation, they immediately calculated the amount of the drug I needed. I was given injections without pain relief, they injected me in 3 places in total. After the procedure, small blood spots from the needle were visible on the skin. Overall everything went well. Now to the results: as the doctor promised, the effect appeared after 2 weeks.

I have a very active facial expression, so by my age I have acquired numerous wrinkles on my forehead and in the eyebrow fold. I used the services of a trusted beauty salon and clinic on Perovaya. My esthetician works with Disport, so I didn’t have to choose between it and Botox. On the first day after the procedure, my injection sites were swollen, on the third day the forehead area swelled a little, after a week my forehead became smooth, wrinkles were barely visible. In general, I liked the result, but now I need to repeat it.”

Name: Maria (Reutovo)
I decided to try a Dysport injection on the forehead. I have had a visible vertical wrinkle since I was 25 years old. I had the procedure done at a paid clinic on Perovo this summer. The doctor first asked to frown, then outlined the area, made a dot, drew up the drug and injected it. The procedure was tolerable, after which I applied ice to my forehead. I then did 2 more procedures, the injection sites did not bleed. Girls, if you decide on this method of rejuvenation, then remember that after the procedure you cannot sunbathe or visit the bathhouse.

The drug Dysport in the amount of 15-20 units. This is not the first time I have been stabbing, in fact, for many years. The average frequency is six months. Personally, a few injections are enough for my forehead to immediately become smooth and even, not a single wrinkle, eyebrows raised, and it all looks as natural as possible

Name: Ilona (Moscow, Perovo metro station)
This was my first time doing the procedure. I injected the drug Dysport, the effect of which lasted me a little more than two months. I expected a little more, but overall the result was quite satisfactory. The drug worked perfectly, but after about a month and a half it began to move and completely disappeared. In principle, everything was as the doctor promised, so nothing surprising. I recommend the drug to everyone for a short-term but strong effect

I liked the effect I got from the injections. I would like to describe the procedure itself in more detail. I’m a terrible coward, I’m very afraid of medical injections, but injecting Dysport turned out to be not as scary as it might seem. I was given the drug in the area between the eyebrows and in my crow's feet. Everything went as comfortably as possible, first the doctor applied a small amount of a special anesthetic cream. Thanks to this, the injections are not felt at all, only a slight tingling sensation. After 20 minutes the event was over. Dysport is an ideal solution for eliminating wrinkles and such an unpleasant phenomenon as “senile neck”.

Name: Vlada (VAO, Novogireevo)
I heard a lot about the drug and finally took the plunge. The Dasklinik specialist gave me 30 units. In the forehead area, approximately 15 units. In the wrinkles around the eyes and the same in the area between the eyebrows. The result pleased me - my forehead rose perfectly, my eyes opened and my eyebrows raised attractively. This is not the first time for Kolya, and now everything worked out without any swelling, that is, he did not have to sit at home for a week. I can’t help but notice that Botox-Dysport is an incredibly rewarding event.

I would like to say a big thank you to Liana Pogosova for her professionalism. This was my first visit to a cosmetologist and I was very worried. We removed facial wrinkles around the eyes, of which not a trace remained after the procedure. And most importantly, facial expressions and mobility are not lost, I don’t have the feeling of a mask on my face!

I forced my husband to undergo a procedure to get rid of excessive sweating of the feet. I read a lot about this procedure and looked for a suitable clinic, it turned out that there was one right next to home. Our problem has been resolved, his feet do not sweat and he is not ashamed to take off his shoes when visiting. Thank you!

For a very long time I could not make an appointment with a cosmetologist. But in the end I got it and didn’t regret it for a second. I took a course of Dysport injections and said goodbye to the hated wrinkles on my forehead, now it is smooth, like a baby’s. I plan to take the same course and smooth out my neck!

Overdose
An overdose can happen if the cosmetologist does not have certain experience and professionalism and administers the drug in excessive doses.
The following may happen due to an overdose::
- Severe muscle weakness - drooping eyelids or eyebrows form after the procedure precisely for this reason.
- Severe facial distortion.
- Paralysis of the respiratory muscles when the drug is injected into the neck muscles.
- Eyes may not open or close.
- When the drug is injected into the folds of the mouth, severe distortion of the lips may occur.
- Numbness of one part of the face, or loss of sensation for a long time.
It is worth noting that the drug can be processed and eliminated from the body, but this takes time. If after the injection the patient shows signs of an overdose, for example, her eyelids droop, special therapy is used in the first three hours after the procedure, which promotes rapid resorption of the toxin.
Contraindications
Dysport has contraindications that every patient should be aware of:
young age, up to 12 years;- pregnancy and lactation;
- blood diseases that greatly reduce blood clotting;
- exacerbations of chronic diseases or third-party infections in the body;
- malignant tumors or precancerous conditions;
- taking certain medications as treatment;
- myasthenia gravis;
- sensitivity or intolerance to the components contained in the drug;
- asthma and other serious respiratory diseases.
About the nuances of the procedure
We have already written that Dysport does not act on the surface of the skin, but on its internal capabilities and facial muscles. Therefore, the effect of Dysport is aimed at tense facial muscles, blocking them with brain signals. Despite the targeted use of the toxin, injections with this substance have certain contraindications. The cosmetologist raises this topic during the first visit. You must understand that there are cases when it is undesirable to do such manipulations. Injections with botulinum toxin are not recommended:
- before the age of 12; up to 18 years of age they are possible for medical reasons if it is necessary to remove an aesthetic defect;
- Since we are talking about Dysport injections as a rejuvenating procedure, the main category of patients who come to us on this issue are women over 30 years old; Of course, exceptions are possible;
- during pregnancy (it has been proven that the components can harm the baby);
- during breastfeeding, as the substance may pass into milk;
- in the presence of pathologies and ailments that are associated with blood clotting;
- during exacerbation of chronic diseases;
- for diseases of the nervous system;
- if there are inflammatory processes in the body, especially in the intended injection area;
- oncological diseases
- during a course of taking antibiotics, antiplatelet agents, anticoagulants (the prohibition is associated with the general weakening of the body at this moment).
The cosmetologist is obliged to check you for individual intolerance to the drug. If it is, then under no circumstances should you receive injections with botulinum toxin. In addition, if you have allergic reactions, the procedure may be dangerous for you, therefore it is considered a contraindication.

Informed consent - what kind of document is it, is it needed?
Do not forget that the introduction of butulinum toxin is a procedure that requires special knowledge and sufficient qualifications of a cosmetologist, and the patient must have guarantees that this service will be provided to him properly.
And the cosmetologist, in turn, must know that the patient will follow all recommendations after rejuvenation.
In certified clinics, before providing rejuvenation services using Dysport, informed consent is signed in two copies - one for the patient, the other for the doctor.
The permitting document contains:
- all information about the administered drug, its characteristics;
- patient information;
- contraindications to the procedure are described in detail;
- and after how long the effect is guaranteed to occur;
- the recommendations that the patient must follow over a certain period of time are also described in detail;
- the points at which the drug was administered are also indicated there;
- the total dose that was administered to the patient during the procedure must be prescribed;
- The protocol of the procedure performed and the signatures of the doctor and patient are indicated.
Administration zones
The drug Dysport is introduced into the body using injection injections. The areas for applying the cosmetic product are determined individually by the cosmetologist in the process of preparing the client for the procedure. Problem areas of the body that require contour correction or relaxation of excessively tense muscles are identified.
There are the following Dysport injection zones:
- cheek surface;
- eyebrow space;
- nasolabial folds;
- frontal lobe of the head;
- chin and the entire triangle of the nose;
- the entire surface of the neck;
- décolleté area, including its deep part;
- contour of the zygomatico-orbital joints;
- completely all areas of the oval of the face.
The cosmetic product can be dosed into other parts of the body where the sweat and sebaceous glands are concentrated. In this case, the effect of reducing excessive sweating is achieved, excessive activity of glandular tissues is removed, and the patient’s quality of life improves.
Dosage
Let's consider how many units should be used in different areas of the face:
– from 30 to 90 units, distributed over 4-6 points;
on the forehead- on the face - maximum 200 units;
- for the eyes – 120 units, 60 units for each eye;
- on nasolabial folds , only the doctor can determine the degree and dose;
- between the eyebrows – 42-100 units.
Dysport injections are a simple and quick method for correcting facial wrinkles, in which the drug is injected with ultra-thin needles directly into the facial muscles. The injection method allows you to correct facial wrinkles without surgery.
Dose calculation
The number of units of Dysport for the correction of wrinkles depends on their depth, the time elapsed since the last injection of the drug (if any), the location of the eyebrows, the width of the forehead, the client’s age, etc. When calculating doses, individual skin characteristics are taken into account. People with oily skin have fewer wrinkles, but they are deeper. The dose needs to be increased. With thin skin, wrinkles are often superficial - the amount of the injected drug should be less.
Only a cosmetologist can determine the optimal number of units. If you do not administer enough drug, the effect will be weak. If there is too much, your face will turn into a mask.
The number of units during initial administration is always greater than during repeated administration. Therefore, the cosmetologist must ask about previously performed procedures.
For correction:
- horizontal forehead wrinkles require from 20 to 60 units at the rate of 5-15 units per point;
- interbrow (vertical) - 8-10 units per 2-4 points;
- procerus muscles (located in the center of the line that connects the medial edges of the eyebrows) - 5-10 units per two points.

Rehabilitation period
Rules for the rehabilitation period:
- Spend maximum time in an upright position, do not sleep on your stomach.
- Don't wear makeup.
- Do not drive for 24 hours.
- Do not drink alcohol for 2 weeks.
- Do not visit baths and saunas.

What procedures are allowed to be combined with? Which medications can be combined with and which cannot?
Caution is required if antibiotics or aminoglycosides are used at the time of injection.
Minimize blood thinning medications if you cannot stop taking them completely. Dysport can be used in conjunction with hyaluronic acid injections into the nasolabial folds and lips.
Read about which is better, Botox or hyaluronic acid, here.
Preparation
No special preparation is required for injections.
It is recommended to stop taking antibiotics and anticoagulants at least two weeks before the date of the session. 24 hours before the procedure, you should give up alcohol, smoking and limit your coffee consumption.
On the day of the session, you cannot keep your head tilted for a long time (for example, when hand washing, ironing, etc.). In this position, blood rushes to the head. This may negatively affect the distribution of the drug.
Side effects
The following short-term side effects may occur after injections::
allergy;- pain at the site of skin puncture;
- itching and redness;
- swelling and hyperemia;
- drooping eyelids;
- nausea;
- drooping eyebrows;
- vomit;
- facial asymmetry;
- double vision.
Before using the drug, the doctor must take into account existing contraindications.
Negative consequences can be avoided by contacting a good clinic with qualified specialists.
Methodology
During the session, the cosmetologist will determine the depth of the problem and calculate the number of units of the drug. After asking the client to frown, he will determine the location of future injections and make markings with a special marker.
The correction site is disinfected with Chlorhexidine. Local anesthesia is done with a special cream.
Using a syringe, the drug is injected into the correction zones to a depth of 2-3 mm. The whole procedure takes from 3 to 5 minutes. After the injections, apply ice to the injection sites for about 15 minutes.
