Nikolai Baskov is the owner of a luxurious tenor; he could have made an excellent career in opera (for some time he served at the Bolshoi Theater), but he chose the stage. The singer became popular in 2000 after his first video. In addition to his vocal abilities, the public appreciated his appearance: the admiration of millions of women was caused by his pretty face framed by blond hair. The artist’s appearance has hardly changed with age; it seems that the years have not taken a toll on him – there are no wrinkles on his face, and his skin retains a fresh and toned appearance.
Basque tightened the skin of the eyelids
Surgery to remove excess skin from the lower and upper eyelids is called blepharoplasty. In 2012, Nikolai Baskov underwent circumferential blepharoplasty, thanks to which his eyes became open, bags under the eyes and fatty hernias disappeared. The skin in the periorbital zone ages quickly: this is due to its natural sensitivity and lack of fatty glands, and for artists the situation is aggravated by the constant application of makeup. It is interesting that the performer had his first blepharoplasty performed during a tour and was forced to go on stage with bruises under his eyes, which are natural for such an intervention. There is an opinion that several years later, during an affair with Victoria Lopyreva, Nikolai Baskov had a second circular eyelid lift, but the artist refuses to confirm this fact.
Solo career
In 2000, the name of Nikolai Baskov became known not only to opera fans, but also to a wide audience throughout the country after the artist released a video for the musical composition “In Memory of Caruso.” Thanks to this work, Nikolai quickly took the top places on the Russian radio and television charts. Baskov's career quickly expanded beyond the academic halls.
Discs with Nikolai's solo albums sell in millions of copies
He became the first artist in Russia working in the genres of opera vocals (tenor), popular classics (Classical Crossover), pop and pop music. Nikolai's creative range is unusually wide - he successfully performs arias, romances, folk songs, foreign hits, popular works by Soviet and Russian composers, and modern hits.
The year 2000 became important in the biography of Nikolai Baskov for many other reasons. In particular, he met the legend of world opera, the great soprano of the twentieth century Montserrat Caballe. The opera diva became interested in the talented young performer and invited Nikolai to perform on stage with her, and also became his mentor, helping to improve his vocal technique. Basque became not only her student, but also her stage partner for several years. Their voices were heard on the famous stages of Spain, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and other countries of the world.
In 2006, Nikolai Baskov, Montserrat Caballe and Montserrat Marty carried out a concert tour of Russian cities, which was received by the public with great enthusiasm.
At the beginning of 2008, at the Northern Greece Theater, Nikolai performed the role of Canio in the opera Pagliacci; five performances in Thessaloniki were a great success. Nikolai performed the same role, but in a completely different stage version of the opera (directed by the famous Liliana Cavani), at the Mikhailovsky Theater in St. Petersburg in December 2008.

The foreign press has repeatedly noted the unique timbre of his voice, excellent technique, wide range, sense of style, artistry and musicality.
Among his stage partners at different times were many classical and popular performers, with whom the artist performed a whole series of interesting duets. Nikolay toured all over Russia with concerts, successfully toured outside the country and was repeatedly awarded the prestigious national awards “Ovation”, “Golden Gramophone”, “MUZ-TV”, “Style of the Year”, “Singer of the Year” and others.
In 2008-2009 Tens of thousands of spectators were able to see Nikolai Baskov’s grandiose shows: the concert programs “Ship of Destiny” (in St. Petersburg) and “Not Only About Love” (in Moscow), after which the artist made an impressive concert tour from the western to the eastern borders of Russia.
In 2011, Nikolai Baskov performed classical arias and romances in the Golden Hall of the Vienna Philharmonic (Musikverein) accompanied by the Schönbrunn Palace Symphony Orchestra. The artist’s vocal partners in this concert were mezzo-soprano Maria Maksakova and soprano Lyudmila Magomedova.
Also in 2011, the year of the artist’s 35th birthday, a television version of Nikolai Baskov’s classic concert at Luzhniki was broadcast on PBS Television in the USA; this program was released on CD and DVD under the title “Romantic Journey”. After that, there, in America, the artist recorded songs for the Christmas album “Christmas” and performed concerts in several states. In February 2012, Nikolai performed with a symphony orchestra at the New York Beacon Theater.
In Moscow in 2012, the world premiere of Alexander Zhurbin’s new opera “Albert and Giselle” took place based on the plot of Théophile Gautier - Nikolai inspired the composer to write this work and performed the leading role in it (Count Albert).
The concert program of the classical repertoire “Star Trio” (Nikolai Baskov, Montserrat Caballe, Montserrat Marti) was presented to the public in October 2013 at the State Kremlin Palace.
From October 7 to October 9, 2021, on the eve of his 40th birthday, Nikolai presented to the public a new grandiose “Game” show in two parts - an unprecedented performance in scale, artistic design and creative implementation, staged by Alexei Sechenov. All three evenings at the State Kremlin Palace were a great success. Soon after the premiere performances in Moscow, the artist set off on the first part of the tour, including concerts in St. Petersburg, Kaliningrad, Minsk and the Baltic countries - Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. At the beginning of 2021, the show took place in concert halls in German cities, and the tour continued in the spring throughout the European part of Russia. In the fall of 2021, the tour resumed, Nikolai Baskov’s concerts were able to be seen by residents of the cities of the Urals, and in the spring of 2021, the “Game” show returned to St. Petersburg and Moscow.

“Young oval” of Baskov’s face
The singer has an extremely unstable contour of the lower third of his face - jowls and a double chin appear and disappear. This is largely due to weight gain and loss. Nikolai Baskov is prone to being overweight, so as soon as he gains a little weight, the defects described above immediately appear. Currently, the artist has lost weight, by his admission, by 20 kg - the oval of his face looks clear and toned. Although, given age-related collagen deficiency and gravity, the skin should sag after the fatty tissue “leaves” (the problem is called ptosis). The fact that this did not happen suggests the idea of lifting the lower third of the face, which the singer himself denies.
Longing for his father and the search for love: Nikolai Baskov summed up his personal year
Nikolay Baskov
Today the “Golden Voice” of Russia turns 44 years old. But the People’s Artist holiday is not widely celebrated for the second year. It is still difficult for Nikolai to accept and comprehend the passing of his father. It was to him that Basque dedicated his new video for the song with the self-explanatory title “Love is Immortal.”
“She is very dear to me. This is my mother’s favorite song - she listens to it every day, both morning and evening,” Baskov tells StarHit. — Mom says that the composition is connected with her dad - for her it is like a hymn to their love. This was the last song my father heard. And for me, to a greater extent, it is connected with my love for him and for all my close people who, alas, are not around today. But my love for them is absolutely immortal..."
The artist’s parents lived together for almost half a century, but looking at them, it seemed as if their wedding was yesterday. Endless love, mutual respect, affection... For the sake of the career of his only son, Viktor Vladimirovich at one time sacrificed his own, refused the general's shoulder straps, which promised a move from Moscow to Odessa. He understood that Kolya, still very young there, but showing great promise, could hardly receive the education and opportunities that he had in the capital.
The singer's father sacrificed his career for the sake of his future son
Last June, the singer’s father passed away - the family lost a battle with a terrible disease.
It was the feeling of heartbreaking melancholy that the artist wanted to convey in the new video. The feeling of eternal love that does not go away or even dull with the loss of a loved one. He, like a guardian angel, remains close to you: he smiles at you at breakfast, holds your hand while walking in the park. And even quarrels and troubles are remembered with warmth - it’s just an endless pity that nothing can be returned.
The main roles in the video were played by the famous serial actor Dmitry Pchela, who is like two peas in a pod like Nikolai himself, and actress Anna Snatkina. The singer himself performs in an unusual role - he is a spectator in a cinema watching this dramatic film about love. The director of the video was Tina Barkalaya, she was the one who filmed Lolita’s “Ranevskaya”.

“The song is so deep and expressive that I didn’t want to make just a video, I wanted to make a movie,” continues Baskov. - A movie in which one could convey such an internal state that tears you apart. People sometimes ask, “Hi, how are you doing?” And you say: “Oh, everything is great!” And inside the cauldron is boiling.”
don’t miss Nikolai Baskov: “I’ve already had my fill, I want a family, children and a beautiful wife”
By the way, Mikhail Gutseriev wrote “Love is Immortal” specifically for Nikolai. The fruitful collaboration between the singer and the poet has lasted for many years: as a result of their creative union, many folk hits were born. “The new song immediately became very dear and beloved to me. Mikhail Safarbekovich understands me as an artist, his poems are always an accurate hit, they really touch the soul, and composers Victoria Kokhana and Alexey Romanof know me very well as a vocalist,” admits Baskov.
The video has already premiered on YouTube.

What cosmetic procedures does Basque do?
The singer admits that he uses mesotherapy (injection saturation of the skin with nutrients and moisturizing substances), and also does not shy away from massages, peelings and all kinds of cosmetic masks. The singer is not frank about injections of hyaluronic fillers that fill wrinkles and are used for contouring, as well as drugs based on botulinum toxin (Botox, Dysport), but recent photos of Baskov reveal the truth. In them, the cheerful and smiling artist looks constrained and unnatural. The reason for this is probably Botox injections, the abuse of which causes a mask effect on the face. Fortunately, after 4-6 months, botulinum toxin is destroyed and eliminated from the body, after which mobility returns to the muscles and facial expressions return to the face.
What Nikolai Baskov looks like today
Nikolai Baskov always took care of his appearance. But recently, the singer’s subscribers have suspected him of abusing the services of cosmetologists and plastic surgeons. The cheerful performer began to increasingly post photographs with a “stony” face.
In his latest photographs, he practically does not change his facial expression. Even the smile turns out strained and unnatural.
Fans of Nikolai believe that botulinum toxin injections were to blame. It is after “beauty injections” that the face ceases to be mobile and becomes like a wax mask. Some of Baskov's subscribers are sure that the performer decided on radical procedures in order not to look his real age (41 years old). Others are convinced that Nikolai was pushed to transform himself by Victoria Lopyreva, who also greatly changed her own appearance.
Not everyone liked Baskov’s new appearance. On the singer’s official page, comments are increasingly appearing that he has become like a doll. Someone even compared Nikolai and Victoria to Barbie and Ken. What do you think about Baskov’s updated appearance?
Slender Nikolai Baskov: was there liposuction?
The artist denies undergoing any surgical corrections to the body. According to him, only diet, massages and physical activity help him stay in good shape. However, there is an opinion that liposuction did take place, and more than once - this is indicated by the inconstancy of the performer’s silhouette. But it’s one thing to remove excess fat (no more than 2 - 3 liters at a time) in some local area, for example, on the stomach or hips, and quite another thing to lose 20 kg! It’s not about liposuction, or rather, not only about it...
Nikolai Baskov had plastic surgery?
As Nikolai himself says, he resorted to the help of plastic surgeons. The first procedure was blepharoplasty. On stage, Baskov is given a large amount of makeup, which causes the skin to deteriorate, and therefore, in order not to harm himself, Baskov underwent eyelid surgery. But everything did not go as well as we would like.
Nikolai had a very long recovery period, and when asked by journalists, Baskov answered that he carried out mesotherapy, which he resorts to very often. There are also suspicions of beauty injections and skin tightening around the eyelids. Botox injections are the latest accusations against Baskov. In the photographs, Nikolai smiles very unnaturally, to which experts said that this is due to the abuse of plastic procedures and Botox, which immobilized his facial muscles.
There is also information about liposuction, but Nikolai does not confirm these rumors. But it is known that liposuction was performed more than once. The first one was back in 2005. Then a couple of years later the next operation occurred. However, Nikolai does not comment on the use of plastic surgery on his body. It all comes down to proper nutrition and a healthy lifestyle, as Baskov says, but fans don’t really believe this.
“According to reliable sources, Nikolai Baskov lost about twenty kilograms of excess weight after his first liposuction.”
There is a suspicion of changes in the contour of the eyelids; if you compare early and late photographs, this is more than noticeable.

Note: why you can’t lose weight with liposuction
Liposuction is a plastic surgery that changes the shape and volume of fat deposits in different parts of the body. The procedure is not prescribed for obese patients, but is used as an additional tool for body correction after weight loss, to give the body an attractive silhouette. Most often, the stomach, hips, and shoulders undergo “finishing” modification. It is possible that it was in these areas that Nikolai Baskov underwent liposuction. The essence of the procedure is to destroy fat cells and then remove their contents. Several fat removal techniques are currently used, including laser, ultrasound, radiofrequency, and traditional tumescent liposuction, which is performed using cannulas inserted under the skin through incisions.
Nikolai Baskov's childhood and youth
The future opera and pop performer Nikolai Baskov was born in Balashikha, near Moscow, on October 15, 1976.
His father, Viktor Vladimirovich, was an officer in the Soviet Army, and his mother, Elena Nikolaevna, was a mathematics teacher. Nikolai spent the first two years of his life in Balashikha.
In 1978, Nikolai's father was sent to the German Democratic Republic. His wife and son followed Viktor Vladimirovich. They first settled in Dresden, then moved to Königsbrück, and then to Halle.
In total, the family lived on the territory of the German Democratic Republic for five years. At this time, his father served in various positions in the army, and his mother managed to get a job as a television announcer.
It is worth noting that Nikolai’s great-grandfather on his mother’s side had natural musical talent. Without any special education, the man was able to master playing several musical instruments.
My great-grandfather’s musical talent was passed on to Nikolai. At the age of five, the boy began singing as a coloratura soprano. After this, the mother decided to teach Nikolai musical notation and studied a lot with the boy at home.
Nikolai went to school in the German Democratic Republic, but soon his father was recalled to his homeland. At first, the family lived in Balashikha, then moved to Kyzyl, where Nikolai went to music school.
The boy went to third grade in Novosibirsk. In 1989, he graduated from music school with honors.
His father was again transferred to serve in the capital, and in the eighth grade Nikolai went to school 1113 with in-depth study of music and choreography.
It is worth noting that Nikolai’s debut on stage was unsuccessful. The boy was entrusted with reciting a poem at a school matinee, but Nikolai became embarrassed and ran off the stage in tears.
But soon Baskov managed to overcome his fear of performing. He began studying at the Children's Musical Theater for Young Actors. As part of the troupe of this theater, Nikolai goes on a tour abroad. The tour took place in Israel, the United States of America, France and Sweden.
At the age of twelve, Nikolai performed the role of the third boy in Mozart's opera The Magic Flute, staged at the Paris National Opera.
The young years of the future celebrity occurred in the early 90s of the twentieth century, when liberals who had seized power destroyed the country.
Nikolai's family lived very modestly. My father, who by that time had received the rank of colonel, served on the General Staff. Although Viktor Vladimirovich held a general’s position, he was unable to receive the rank of major general, since this required moving from the capital for some time.
This move could have a negative impact on his son’s musical career, which had begun to develop, and the man did not take any risks. In order to financially help his family, Nikolai began to speculate, selling perfumes and cosmetics near one of the Moscow train stations at significantly inflated prices.
According to Nikolai’s recollections, he was once able to sell this perfume even to the famous actor Alexander Abdulov. This activity was not entirely legal, and in the end, instead of financial help to his relatives, Nikolai only brought problems. To save his son from criminal prosecution, the father was forced to give up all his family savings.
So that Nikolai could continue his musical education, the family was forced to sell the inherited apartment. In 1993, Kolya entered the State Institute of Theater Arts (now the Russian Institute of Theater Arts) to major in Musical Theater Actor.
But a year later Nikolai was expelled from the institute for absenteeism. Subsequently, the singer stated that he skipped dance classes because the teacher who taught vocals demanded that he devote more time to developing his voice.
A year after his expulsion, Basque entered the Gnessin Music School. Having completed his studies at this school with honors, he continued his musical education in graduate school at the Moscow State Conservatory named after Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
Music career
In his younger years, Basque was repeatedly nominated for the Ovation Award, and also managed to win the Grande Voce competition held in Spain. At the age of eighteen, he joined the choir as a soloist.
In 1998, Nikolai left the choir and moved to Novosibirsk, where he was enrolled in the troupe of the Novosibirsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater. In the same year, Basque became the laureate of the first degree prize at the All-Russian Competition of Young Opera Singers.
In 1999, the singer left Novosibirsk and moved to Moscow, joining the troupe of the State Academic Bolshoi Theater of Russia as an intern.
The theater management showed the highest confidence in the aspiring singer - they offered to perform Lensky's parts in the opera Eugene Onegin. For the first time in this image, the artist, who was twenty-two years old at that time, appeared on stage on June 19, 1999, becoming the youngest performer of Lensky's parts in the history of opera.
In 2000, the singer recorded a video clip for the song “In Memory of Caruso.” This song reached the top of the charts, thanks to which Basque became widely known not only to fans of opera, but also to the general public.
After this success, Nikolai began to actively develop his career as a pop singer, rather than as an opera singer. This was facilitated by Alexander Morozov, who wanted a performer with more than just pop talent to appear on the Russian stage.
The year 2000 was marked for Baskov not only with his debut on the stage, but also with his acquaintance with Montserrat Caballe. The great singer liked the young performer so much that she not only sang a duet with him, but also invited him to be her student.
Having joined the main troupe of the State Academic Bolshoi Theater of Russia, Baskov performed the following roles:
- Vladimir Igorevich in the opera “Prince Igor”;
- The Holy Fool in the opera “Boris Godunov”;
- Ishmael in the opera “Nabucco”;
- Spakosa in the opera "Cleopatra";
- Mozart in the opera "Mozart and Salieri".
