Masks with Botox effect
Botox injections are not performed at home, but as an alternative, you can make a face mask. Of course, their effectiveness is much lower than that of injections, but they are characterized by a complete absence of side effects. Preparations for external use do not contain Botox, since the toxin is almost instantly inactivated when exposed to air.
Botox analogs
The most famous masks with the lifting effect of botulinum toxin:
- Face mask Botox Active Expert. Ideal for facial contours and treatment of deep wrinkles in the nasolabial folds. The product contains hyaluronic acid, sakura honey extract, shea butter and peanut base oils.
- Dizao Boto Mask 8. Heavy product for the care of mature skin. It contains petroleum jelly, tocopherol, green tea extract, aloe extract, and mineral compounds.
- Face cream with Botox effect Evalar Cream Qi-Clim botoeffect or Cyclim Botox. Contains a unique complex of peptide argireline. This component is characterized by its unique ability to relax muscles and moisturize the epidermis. In addition to the peptide, the cream contains hyaluronic acid, lecithin, D-panthenol, and rice extract.
- Nano Botox facial serum. This is a unique emulsion enriched with silver ions and synthetic peptides. As a result of the effect of the drug, small facial wrinkles are smoothed out.
- Serum Shary. Korean anti-aging elixir contains Argireline, hyaluronic acid and a complex of plant extracts.
An excellent analogue of artificial lifting products is a homemade face mask made from starch instead of Botox. It consists of completely natural ingredients, does not clog pores and does not dry out the skin.
Step-by-step instructions for preparing a home remedy for wrinkles:
- A tablespoon of potato starch is dissolved in 100 ml of water. The mixture must be mixed thoroughly so that there are no lumps.
- At the same time, you need to boil 50 ml of water. After boiling, pour cold starch mixture into hot water and stir until a thick mass forms.
- After this, the pulp is cooled and combined with chicken yolk.
The composition is applied to the face, neck and décolleté. The holding time ranges from 20 to 30 minutes. The procedure must be repeated every 3 days.

Essentially, this is the same thing. Botox is a highly concentrated botulinum neurotoxin. It is produced by Allergan (USA). Dysport is the same toxin, but only with a concentration 2 times less. This is a French drug from Beaufour Ipsen. Accordingly, the latter drug has a higher consumption and less danger to health.
Botox Allergan
Other differences between botulinum injections:
- Price. Dysport is much cheaper. On average, an ampoule of the drug costs from 15 to 20 dollars. Botox is exactly twice as expensive.
- For those interested in whether Botox is harmful for facial rejuvenation, it will be interesting that the product from Allergan is more dangerous than the drug Beaufour Ipsen. An allergic reaction occurs as a result of the active production of antibodies. The higher the concentration of botulinum toxin, the more likely the body’s negative reaction.
- The effect after Botox appears on days 5–7 and lasts up to 1 year. The results from Dysport appear within a day after the injections. But, the duration of its action is up to 3 months.
What are the advantages and disadvantages?
The advantages of an injection into the “nasolabial area” for correction include:
- The effectiveness of the method – wrinkles of any depth are corrected.
- Duration of effect – no other cosmetic service works on wrinkles for so long.
- Cumulative effect.
- Quick results - in just a few days your face will look years younger.
- Relative safety - compared to surgical interventions, this procedure is more than safe.
The disadvantages include:
The possibility of developing side effects - since we are dealing with, in fact, poison - it is necessary to perform actions with the face in an extremely professional manner (read about how to remove Botox from the face if undesirable consequences appear after injections, and from this article you will learn about why there is swelling after this procedure and how to get rid of it). There is a high responsibility in choosing a cosmetologist who will perform the procedure (for the reason stated above). Important! There is a risk of stumbling upon unscrupulous organizations. The presence of a considerable number of contraindications to botulinum toxin injections - therefore, before the upcoming event, you should make sure that the latter are absent. The financial side of the issue - Botox is not a cheap procedure, especially when it comes to course treatment and the reliability of the clinic. Competitiveness - today there are many other options that can solve the problem of getting rid of facial wrinkles just as well.
Possible undesirable consequences of such injections
Injections of botulinum toxin into the nasolabial triangle are fraught with a noticeable, conspicuous violation of facial expressions. Moreover, in order to be noticeable, these violations do not have to be significant. For example, critical for many patients are:
- Insufficient elongation of the lips when smiling, caused by weakening of the laughter muscle or the muscle that lifts the upper lip. In this case, a visual sensation is created that the person cannot smile fully;
- Lowering or, conversely, raising the corners of the lips. In the first case, the face takes on a sad expression, in the second, an evil smile appears on it (analogous to the smile of clowns from horror films);
- General stretching of the lips in length, leading to a change in the face as a whole;
- Sagging of the middle of the upper lip when smiling, creating the impression that the person is deliberately covering his upper teeth and is afraid to smile fully;
- Violation of facial symmetry - drooping of one corner of the lips, curvature of the smile.
One of the side effects after botulinum toxin injections may be drooping of the corner of the mouth.
Since such side effects significantly affect facial expressions, they attract attention, even if the observer is not aware of exactly what changes have occurred in the face of a person who has undergone botulinum therapy. In this case, those around him tell the patient that something is wrong with him, but they cannot explain what exactly.
Other side effects are already considered pathological and not only affect the patient’s appearance, but also cause him certain inconvenience. These include, for example:
- Dysphagia – difficulty and even inability to take a sip;
- Development of dysfunction of the muscle that closes the mouth;
- Flu-like syndrome (very rare due to small amounts of botulinum toxin administered).
At the same time, side effects typical of botulinum therapy in the form of swelling and bruising at the injection sites when injected into the nasolabial triangle and around it rarely develop. This is explained by the small amount of injected drug and the softness of the injected tissues.
Further care
- For the first time after the filler is injected, you should not touch your nose with your hands.
- Do not take a horizontal position for 3-4 hours.
- In addition, try not to use aggressive cosmetics such as scrubs and cleansing foams for about 7 days.
- Don't sleep face down on the pillow.
- Try not to use decorative cosmetics for 14 days.
- When can I expect results? What will be the result? Do I need to repeat the procedure to achieve results?
- The result of the procedure is visible immediately, the final effect will be visible after 2 weeks.
In addition, if little of the drug is administered, then after 14 days you can repeat the procedure - make a pin. It is worth noting that the use of fillers for nose correction is a procedure that has a huge number of positive reviews, both from patients and cosmetologists. The result of the injection of fillers is a beautiful and neat nose.
Features of the method and indications for rhinoplasty
The method of non-surgical rhinoplasty is based on the subcutaneous injection of dense gel fillers into the nasal area, which act as a kind of implants. The doctor chooses the drug for intradermal administration independently based on the indications for the procedure and the wishes of the patient.
There are biodergradable (absorbable), bionondegradable (non-absorbable) and autologous drugs for non-surgical correction of the shape and proportionality of the olfactory organ. The first group includes fillers prepared on the basis of hyaluronic acid (Yvoire, Stylage, Surgiderm, Restylane, Teosyal), calcium hydroxyapatite (Radiesse) or polycaprolactone (Ellanse), which dissolve over time, so the procedure must be repeated approximately every 1.5 3 years (depending on the density and composition of the gel). Bionon-degradable drugs include polymer synthetic solutions that contain silicone, but due to the high likelihood of side effects after the procedure (tissue fibrosis), they are rarely used for non-surgical plastic surgery.
What can be changed with injection rhinoplasty:
Autologous fillers are conventionally called injection solutions prepared from the patient’s own fat cells. Before the procedure, the doctor takes adipose tissue from the abdomen or thighs, cleans it of impurities and injects it under the skin. The method does not cause side effects, but the results of the plastic surgery last for 8-10 months, after which the injections have to be repeated.
The main indications for correcting the shape of the nose without surgery:
- asymmetrical shape;
- depressions, dips or irregularities on the back or wings of the nose;
- sharp corners on the bridge of the nose, a hump;
- consequences of unsuccessful surgical rhinoplasty.
Non-surgical plastic surgery of nasal tip defects with fillers is not carried out, because the gel in this area is poorly distributed and can take the shape of a ball, so correction of an upturned or drooping nasal tip is carried out only surgically.
Psychiatry
Today, botulinum therapy is successfully used to treat depression. Our interbrow muscles - “brow furrowers” - are responsible for the generation of negative emotions. It is in this area that injections are made to relieve depression. The relationship between muscle tension between the eyebrows and mood has been confirmed by a whole series of experiments. Everything is exactly according to the saying: “We are sad because we cry.” Simply put, if a person loses the ability to frown, that is, to reproduce negative emotions, he gradually experiences them much less. And here botulinum therapy completely competes with antidepressants.
Types of plastic surgery without surgery
Non-surgical rhinoplasty can be of several types. How each of them is done and how long the result lasts will be described in detail below.
Injection
Rhinoplasty with fillers are injectable medications that are used as a filler to correct defects caused by a lack of tissue. The procedure does not cause side effects, does not provoke swelling and dissolves on its own within 1.5 years.
The nasal area is treated with an antiseptic, and then a filler is injected subcutaneously. The whole procedure takes about half an hour, after which the patient can go home.
Fillers can be
- biodegradable - produced on the basis of biosubstances - hyaluronic acid, collagen;
- bionon-degradable - synthetic substances - silicone and so on;
- autologous – the body’s own adipose tissue.
Injection rhinoplasty also includes the administration of hormonal drugs. This procedure requires extreme care and precision, since if the exact dosage is not followed, the situation can worsen. The effect after the procedure is quite long-lasting, but complications in the form of tissue atrophy may occur.
We invite you to watch a video about what rhinoplasty performed with filler is:
Laser
In this case, instead of a scalpel for nose surgery, a laser is used, therefore, the incisions are more gentle, and bleeding is eliminated due to cauterization of the vessels.
The surgical approach for laser surgery is not much different from classic rhinoplasty.
With the help of a laser, the surgeon’s task is simplified; it is possible not only to speed up the operation itself, but also to reduce the recovery time. Before the operation, the patient must prepare, undergo tests and undergo consultation with specialists. When laser rhinoplasty is performed correctly, the results last a long time.
Threads
Many plastic surgeons do not consider this type of rhinoplasty effective, so it is not common. Most often, threads are used to correct the shape of the tip or wings of the nose (read about techniques for performing conventional rhinoplasty of the wings of the nose, its tip and other parts here). The specialist makes small punctures where the threads are inserted. The skin and tissues are fixed in the desired position using artificial material. The effect lasts for a long time.
You will find more information about rhinoplasty with threads in a separate publication.
Splints
A splint is a special device that looks like a plastic clothespin. It is designed to be worn for several hours a day, allowing changes in the shape of cartilage tissue to be achieved. However, it will take several months to see a pronounced effect. Minor defects can be corrected:
- restore symmetry to the nose;
- straighten a small hump;
- raise the tip of the nose (you will learn how to solve problems with the tip of the nose using classic rhinoplasty from a special material);
- reduce the width of the wings.
Combined techniques
Botulinum toxin type A preparations are used either alone or in combination with other agents, during one or more sequential procedures aimed at treating different layers of the skin and its imperfections. Over the past few years, the principles of facial rejuvenation have undergone significant changes and have moved from a two-dimensional approach to correcting hypodynamic wrinkles to a three-dimensional approach, which also includes the aspect of tissue volume lost with age. This has led to some changes in the clinical use of botulinum toxin type A preparations. Now doctors are trying to correct not one, but several areas at once in order to achieve the most natural result. In addition, botulinum toxin type A preparations are increasingly being used in conjunction with other products, including dermal fillers. The combined use of botulinum toxin type A and fillers corresponds to the concept of a three-dimensional approach to rejuvenation and provides more aesthetically attractive and long-lasting results. When injected together with filler, botulinum toxin type A slows down metabolic processes in surrounding tissues and thereby prolongs the period of action of the filler.
Botulinum toxin type A also enhances the effect of laser rejuvenation, since collagen production occurs faster in immobilized tissues. For example, an excellent aesthetic result can be achieved using laser lip rejuvenation with a preliminary (1-2 weeks before) injection of botulinum toxin type A. Regular (with an interval of 4-6 weeks) injections of botulinum toxin type A after anti-aging procedures prolong their effect.
In addition, botulinum toxin type A preparations have been successfully used in conjunction with chemical peels, especially in patients with signs of photoaging.
Also, injections of botulinum toxin type A can be combined with various plastic surgeries, for example, eyebrow lifting, blepharoplasty of the lower and upper eyelids and rhytidectomy.
What is Botox
Botox is a drug based on purified botulinum toxin, used to limit the motor activity of the subcutaneous muscles and, as a result, temporarily eliminate facial wrinkles.
Botulinum toxin type A is a natural substance produced by one of the types of anaerobic bacteria of the genus Clostridium, the causative agent of botulism, an acute food poisoning that can lead to death from paralysis of the respiratory muscles. Thanks to the relaxing effect of botulinum toxin on muscles, therapeutic doses of this substance began to be used in medicine to treat neurological diseases and spastic disorders, and in cosmetology to get rid of wrinkles. The administered doses of the drug are considered completely safe for health - blood circulation in the muscles is maintained and sensitivity is gradually restored.
Today, minimally invasive Botox injections have become a worthy alternative to plastic surgery.
Gynecology
There is a serious but sensitive issue that women prefer to remain silent about. This is vaginismus - an involuntary contraction of the pelvic floor muscles, which leads to a lack of intimate life and the inability to give birth. Injections of botulinum proteins into the desired muscles cope well with this condition.
Moreover, these drugs can help to carry a pregnancy to term. For example, if an expectant mother is at risk of miscarriage associated with cervical hypertonicity, then the cervix is first relaxed with the help of injections. Then they stitch it in - and the pregnancy is carried to term safely.
It is worth emphasizing that new studies confirm the safety of botulinum neuroprotein preparations for pregnant women and nursing mothers. Today in Russia there are six such drugs: Botox, Dysport, Lantox, Xeomin, Relatox and Botulax. And, say, in Dysport’s instructions for use, pregnancy and breastfeeding are no longer, as before, an absolute contraindication. Most likely, such an amendment will appear in the instructions for other drugs.
Age-related changes
This is one of the few types of wrinkles that can be corrected at a young age. The earlier appearance of furrows is associated with individual anatomical features, as well as lifestyle. Experts note the positive effect of the correction. The sooner you use aesthetic medicine methods, the better the result will be.
Reasons for the formation of nasolabial folds:
- rich expressive facial expressions can lead to the formation of dense folds, additionally moving the cheeks down;
- loss of elasticity is observed after 30 years, by the age of 40 the depth and area of creases increases, with age the problem only gets worse;
- hereditary factor - the type of aging is transmitted by genes, it is easy to track and prevent aesthetic flaws before the formation of static wrinkles;
- sudden weight loss, malocclusion, professional activities associated with constant tension of the articulatory apparatus can lead to the formation of nasolabial folds before the age of 30;
- bad habits, especially smoking, not only contribute to constant tension in muscle fibers, but also trigger premature aging processes that reduce collagen synthesis and disrupt the supply of oxygen and nutrients.
Immunogenicity
Immunological complications during botulinum therapy are reduced to acute allergic reactions to human serum albumin. This phenomenon is possible when too high doses of the toxin are administered, which leads to the formation of IgH antibodies, the number of which increases in direct proportion to the volume of the administered botulinum toxin type A preparation. The result of this reaction of the body is the inactivation of the toxin. However, in aesthetic medicine, botulinum toxin type A preparations are usually used in very small doses, so the issue of immunogenicity is not a cause for concern.
